Shelley Tatelbaum, MS, CGT is the founder and director of the Center For Grief, Loss and Life Transition. in Poughkeepsie, New York. , She has been in service to grieving people as a grief therapist for over 30 years.
Her journey as a grief therapist began when she was 8 years old with death of her father and then 7 months later, her sister. There was no such thing as grief therapy then, and it has been her calling ever since to be a guide through the world of grief. She now sums up her life's purpose in 2 words; "bridging worlds".
"My intent is bridging the worlds between life and death. These deaths lead me to the questions of life and death and the spiritual questions which follow like "why?" and "what happens when we die?"."
Shelley graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a Bachelors Degree in Speech Communications and Psychology. She received her Masters Degree with honors in Family/Pastoral Counseling at Iona College. Shelley received her Certification in Grief Therapy through the Association of Death Educators and Counselors. Shelley has also appeared on the Phil Donohue Show and The Today Show as a grief expert.
Shelley uses many modalities in her work and her heart centered style supports her clients in their healing process. Questions such as those mentioned above, lead Shelley on a spiritual journey which has taken her to many different cultures, healers, and shamans all over the world.
In addition to her private practice, Shelley facilitates workshops and wisdom groups that explore a spiritual and mindful approach to healing. She has studied under the direction of Jon Kabat Zinn as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program Facilitator for over 20 years. She has also connected with Don Miguel Ruiz author of the Four and Five Agreements, and has journeyed and studied with him since 2001. Shelley is now a Certified Four Agreements Teacher, allowing her to now teach and guide spiritual journeys that assist people in their process of healing their own wounded hearts. Before we can completely heal our wounds we need to raise our awareness and examine the beliefs which are not serving us so that we can live personally free from our past. She has studied with a variety of renowned healers all over the world and brings their wisdom to her practice. Her life is committed to assisting individuals in lowering their stress while raising their awareness.
She invites each person to rediscover faith in themselves on the journey to personal freedom from their past and to live in peace and happiness while finding their heaven here, on Mother Earth.
